ABOUT

I work in a variety of mediums, from photography to silkscreen, from video to charcoal and oil — whatever inspires me in a given moment and dependent upon the nature of the project.

I believe that art is a form of dialogue that pushes boundaries and re-contextualises ideas. My artwork mostly relates to the personal; it is a vehicle through which I can experiment with my own image and fuse my multiple identities. It is the method I use to explore my thoughts and deconstruct and transform my identity.

My recent work re-genders religious and secular icons, interrogating and challenging binary notions of male and female. I interlace the melancholy and passion of my contemporary reality as an artist living in London in the 21st century with the Classical references of my Italian childhood, mingling the Baroque game of dark and light, hiding and revealing, with my urge to create.

By placing my body in a space usually held by a classical protagonist I twist the conventional and expected as I perform my reality into existence. Through my work I hope to engage, challenge and encourage the subversion of the conventional..
